Getting Started
So, why "Whistling in the Dark?" Well, that pretty much describes one of the several ways this fool has of looking at life. You pick the darn thing up [life] in your hands and turn it this way and that. It encompasses at least nine known universes and every facet you see looks different.
Every facet you see looks permanent and real and you think, "By god this is it! Now I understand everything. I have all the answers." [Smug look of satisfaction here]
Then you turn it again and it all changes. Not like a kaleidoscope, because a kaleidoscope has a finite number of pieces. No, when you turn life and look at another side everything changes. And, by golly, this one looks real now. But, damn! How do I choose?
And that's what we do, we pick a reality and gussy it up like putting lipstick on a pig and we take it around and show it to everyone we know, and a few folks we've never met. "My goodness, is this some fine bit of living, or what?"
Then at night you turn off all the lights and you take it out again and you look at it good, real close, and you wonder, "Is this it? Is this life? Is this the universe?" Damned if you're going to look at another one of those other farblondzhet universes! No, this one is fine and dandy, thank you very much.
And it's dark, coal cellar black, and you're looking at that thing and you hope it's real. Then maybe a little tune comes to mind and you whistle. Nothing like a tune to make the world seem more real. But you're scared, a little or a lot, and whistling helps that too. You're not alone in this dumb, nut universe, there's that other guy, that fool who's whistling!
So, whistle along with me and maybe we'll turn this blamed universe every once in a while like a pig on a spit, and see what we get.

Come on in the water's fine. My blogs so far have not been current rantings, but just old poems and songs and thoughts. I hope to get in "real time" soon. But then again, it will be just another way to turn the pig, huh?
